Solaris Urbino Mild Hybrid
The Solaris Urbino Mild Hybrid is the answer to the need for innovative urban transport vehicles that minimize the impact of such transport on the natural environment, while at the same time enabling significant savings and reducing fuel consumption.
This solution marks the natural evolution of recuperation technology in buses - technology that uses the energy generated during braking. Thanks to the Mild Hybrid solution, the vehicles are more environmentally friendly and far exceed the strict EURO 6 emission standards for diesel engines.
Recovery technology
The system is based on three key elements: an electrical machine, an energy storage system, and an actuator for the structure that oversees the system's operation. When braking, the electric machine of the bus works as a generator and fills the energy storage with the maximum available power. The capacity of the energy storage tank was chosen to facilitate energy recovery when braking from a speed of approx. 60 km/h down. When the storage unit is partially or fully charged, during the acceleration process, the electric machine acts as an electric motor to support the operation of the diesel engine.
